Presentation

Cultural Heritage of the Andalusian Public Universities aims to bring to the citizens the rich movable and inmovable heritage preserved in the Andalusian Public Universities. It should be noted the wide range of objects of the most diverse types and uses, and also the great number of works of Modern Art, with important examples of painting, sculpture, photography and engraving.

At the end of the year 2005, the Dirección General de Universidades de la Junta de Andalucía (Directorate of Universities of the Andalusian Regional Government), through the Vicerrectorados de Extensión Universitaria (Vice Chancelleries of Extracurricular activities), kick-started the Atalaya Project, a network project held by all the Andalusian universities, through different cultural initiatives. Within this framework, being aware of the diversity and richness of the cultural heritage of the Andalusian Public Universities, it was drove a project to manage those assets, based upon principles of efficiency and coherence, aimed also to divulge this cultural heritage.

In the year 2010, the Universidad Internacional de Andalucía on behalf of the public universities and the Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Histórico (Historic Heritage Andalusian Institute) sign both an agreement to work in collaboration in order to valorize and emphasize the historic heritage of the Andalusian Universities. This present website is a result of that agreement, an information product at the service of the investigation community, the enterprises, the Public Administration and the citizens.

In 2015 the database includes basic information about the movable and inmovable heritage of the Universities of Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga and Universidad Internacional de Andalucía, with a sum of 1937 movable and 160 inmovable properties, these numbers will be progressively increased.
